8:00 pm
you. >> i love your mom. >> start your day with fox and friends see you back here tomorrow night. >> merry christmas. >> merry christmas.
8:01 pm
8:02 pm
what is really going on in area 51? when i wanted to know, i called shirley maclaine. i think i just became the first president to ever publicly mention area 51 >> it was a good night. your humble correspondent was on the scene because i was asked to introduce herby hancock. he is a brilliant artist. >> look at him sitting up there with the president of the united
8:03 pm
states and all of those brilliant artists. and he's the only one not nervous about what i'm going to say. he doesn't care. >> the program will air on cbs sunday night, december 29th. i did have moments to speak with the president not a big scmoozer. michelle obama extremely personal. 70% of california doctors will opt out of obamacare. there is no question, many american doctors are not going to get involved with the affordable health care act. talking points has said it will be doctors making or break obamacare. no doubt most working
8:04 pm
americans will pay more but if the care is elevated that might be acceptable to some. however, if doctors are not available it will collapse. do you know what there is nothing president obama can do about. that can't force doctors into the obamacare program. so, america's leader is in a tight spochlt he knows it, you know it. the top story tonight, reaction joining us from new orleans, james carvel. do you agree the doctor think will make or break the new law? >> if you sdroent a doctor it will. it's not a problem in massachusetts. and you know, medicare started we're going to opt out of medicare, it's one of the most popular programs in the united states. i'm not too worried about it. >> but this report if that were close to being true, 70% of
8:05 pm
california doctors not going to be in the program. we've had a couple doctors here. nobody can say yes or no. but in your state, louisiana, interesting state. your senator, democratic senator under pressure to not repudiate so much as modify her stance on obamacare. if people in louisiana are worried and upset, and are taking it out on senator, it's a run next year. they may well lose i don't know why you're confident here. >> because it's starting to work now. their numbers are way up. and i think as i said earlier, it's going to be fine. it's going to be some problems in if it goes forward? of course there are. they'll have to fin to work on fixing them. it's up and running and massachusetts is doing fine. >> do you know, massachusetts is a debatable situation. debt there has risen high. and
8:06 pm
aferdable health care law in massachusetts is driver of that debt. and the wait times have increased in massachusetts so it's not sugar plum fairies but let's just say with you, with your thread here on the basic law, it's, i want to be fair to this law. okay? i'm not predicting doom for the law. my prediction is 75% that it will not work based on information we're getting because you've pointed out people are starting to sign up. it's not easy to do so. but some people are. you know who they are. do you not? >> i don't exactly. >> a lot of people with preexisting conditions are signing up. right. >> it's people going to benefit directly are getting it free or subsidized or have leprosy and
8:07 pm
they're going to die in eight months and they're going to get insurance before they do. >> other people aren't signing up. i would -- i respect your opinion on that. >> but, i'm interested in the country, in the president's state of the country z our leader is under siege. is he not? >> he's president of the united states. it's a tough job. and do you know what? the cap thing is doing much, much better. there are things out there, but i'll be the first to tell you last couple months have been rough for the
8:08 pm
president. i'm not going to be convinced in the economy. it doesn't matter on unemployment. if wages are stagnant which they are... >> it's like 0.4%. like nothing. nothing. >> talk be seeing glass half full. >> these people, just look. health care working much better. >> so saying some signs are down. >> all right. next on the run down, brit hume. then, it's rocky mountain high once again.
8:09 pm
the denver post hires an editor to promote marijuana. we're coming right back.
8:10 pm
8:11 pm
8:12 pm
>> the establishment... >> the house of representative supz next year, every democrat in the house is going to be dealing with the president's situation it's a huge drag on the ticket. when the president of your party's approval ratings are
8:13 pm
tanking. and you're up for reelection. you've got a problem. >> do you believe the doctors are going to bail on this law because as i said i think that is going to make or break it. >> i think that the doctors will some of the doctors will bail. a large number of people. look at it this way, bill. here is progression. first, people couldn't get on the web site b same time they begin receiving notices in large numbers said their own insurance is cancel sod they couldn't get on the site to find out what is vavenlt then, they did. when they did, a couple things happened they were stunned at prices and are going to continue to be. they're stunned by the size of the deductible. then, they're checking to see if the plans that were comparable did not include many of their doctors or hospitals or whatever. you put
8:14 pm
these together and there will be more of it when employer sponsored health care drop numbers and employer mandate starts to take affect they're going to have a lot of angry people over a long period of time. that negative emotion, bill, that anger drives people to the polls far more. >> once it's personal that, is what we said. first, benghazi, irs, this, and that. >> this is someone they don't. people are frightened in america right now what is going to become of their health insurance and health care. >> that is the killer here, there is no competition in the
8:15 pm
marketplace. it's like take it or leave it. >> people are out of the work force, too. so that is a drag on the president's approval as well. >> one of the things was that two hospitals that are very prestigious. the weather in los angeles both have announced, very unusual they're not going to participate in obamacare. two of the best hospitals in the united states of america when i heard that, i went woah. usually hospitals won't say it, have this as a national point of discussion. >> it's a problem, people are accustomed to going to them. if
8:16 pm
they're on obamacare they're out of luck. people will not like that, bill. if it's true those institutions it's going to be true of a lot. >> you know it's going to be more. if you have cancer, you want to go there. >> you do. >> if you have a malady on the west coast you want to go to cedars-sanai. for them, it's basically cost. but there is a factor, we've heard this last week. is there is so much paper work, the doc saying i can't hire ten people to figure this out. that is another thing. because it's so damn complicated. >> and there is further fact that remember this, bill. when the president undertook to do
8:17 pm
this, there is a bit of poll, asking people how they felt about their health insurance. 80% said they were satisfied with health care. 61% satisfied with their health insurance, meaning if you're going to change that system, you're going to upset people. and worry people f you're doing it in a by they lose doctors and care, you've got an angry electorate on your hands. >> denver post hires an editor to tell everybody about marijuana. what is next? a booze critic. those reports after these messages
8:18 pm
8:19 pm
8:20 pm
8:21 pm
ed >> do you smoke pot? >> i don't smoke pot. i do eat it. >> is this a laughing matter? really? this bothers me. i don't think
8:22 pm
they should hire, now a far left concern promoting marijuana use and i just don't think it's good. >> are they promoting wine use? >> restaurants is not an intoxication deal. when you go to a restaurant, do you get drunk? >> i drink alcohol in restaurants. >> do you get loaded? >> no. >> you're doing wine in restaurant reviews. this is people interest in the product. marijuana is legal there. >> shouldn't they hire a booze editor saying this is the best way to get high? we can drink baileys or begin? sheer how you mix it? >> there is only one reason, mary-catherine to use marijuana that, is to get high. am i wrong? >> i volunteer to be the booze
8:23 pm
analyst in denver. second of all, i'm very good. this isn't just about being a critic. this isn't being covered from a consumerist connoisseur point of view they hired a guy who is a newspaper veteran this, is a news worthy beat. they think well, if we cover marijuana closely, and it's a had you news story it will probably earn us buzz. that was not an intended pun. and so i think they're looking for readership but this is a serious public hol polsy issue from your point of view. >> absolutely. a critic has to inject marijuana. why don't we add methadone? it's legal. let's do methadone critic saying this is the best. it's legal. >> we do have that section. >> no. >> we have --
8:24 pm
>> like the restaurant analogy? >> let me, they talk about people with addictions methadone is given to addicts. >> this is about promoting it. >> it's telling you, it's promoting it. >> it's not. >> sure it s you get the guy on tv going i eat it. i eat it. what is this for? teenagers? >> yes. you want them to read where the best pot is in the state? is that what you want? >> what do you think about alcohol. >> do you want a booze guy? every day my family gets "new york times," washington post, "wall street journal" there are reviews of wine. >> it's not about that. >> you can drink wine without getting inebriateked >> their going to decide what can be in the retail store, how strong the weed s there are going to be decisions that you
8:25 pm
want to be covered. >> so they're going to tell what you is the best bud is. >> where to buy it this, is promoting the use of an intoxicant by the denver post. here is the bar you can get cheapest chasers. >> i disagree with you. >> you can cover the policy without having a critic that has to ingest the substance. >> that part is fair. a person can report on it. >> williams? then, the denver post sends a
8:26 pm
memo saying we have a marijuana critic, you can't use it on the premises of the denver post i mean, come on. why do you have it anyway? >> you can't smoke a sig kret ret in this building. what i'm going to say is that you know these products are now legal. legal, cop dmotz have to proem joet arrest them. you're being -- >> let me see mary catherine would say bill you're getting lost here. >> here is the deal. denver post promoting intoxication going to lead to more duis. and that is
8:27 pm
what they're doing. bottom line. >> kids should not be able to use it. that is one of the covers i think you'd appreciate that. >> yes. yes. plenty more is ahead this evening. jesse waters go together end of the usa, key west, florida. and taking a look at a false report from a news organization. and also, how the press might treat hillary clinton if she runs for president. hope you stay tuned for those reports.

8:37 pm
8:38 pm
8:39 pm
8:40 pm
what do we know about this? >> well, first thing is that cns is a division of the media research center. that is the conservative watch dog group that exposes liberal bias in the news fwhu may be an example of their conservative bias in the news. cns as you said reported 41% of the jobs were government jobs and also said, rush limbaugh
8:41 pm
picked it up and other web sites picked it up. so it's out and all oaf the place. it isn't that 41% of the jobs were government jobs. these were old government jobs people that worked for the government for a year, five years, maybe 30 years, that were going back to work after they were furloughed because of the government shut down. so they were old government jobs people going back the number isn't 41%. it's 3.5%. the reason that is important is because there are plenty of legal organization that's put a happy face to make barack obama look good. and that is called
8:42 pm
conservative media bias. >> because you and i, we, i usually would say 70% of the time go after the left for distortions and things that aren't true. i heard it because i called my staff. 100% of the time i hear it on the internet or radio i have my staff research. it came back quickly that it was bogus. i said give it to goldberg because we have an obligation to be fair. fox news channel slogan is fair and balanced now, they're usually pretty good at the research center. this one wasn't close. >> yes. this could be just
8:43 pm
terrible economic analysis. or it could be a -- >> they should explain. cnn should explain. all right. hillary clinton what she's doing now is going around the country ask raising money for other people. this is what potential presidential contenders do. the reason they do it is because they call in favors she'll and they'll come in and pledge aleej yens to hillary clinton. i expect media to give her a good ride >> easy ride? >> yes. a pretty easy ride. >> yes. yes. i they will treat her the way they treat barack
8:44 pm
obama when he ran for president the reason for that is, in barack obama's case journalists wanted to help shape history because barack obama was a historical figure. hillary clinton is, also. he was the first black president, she may be the first woman president. >> most reporters in the so called >> she's running for president they're going to try to find out what happened with benghazi and to what extent she did something wrong? i don't think so. there is another factor. when barack obama ran, the media slobbered all over him. the title of my last book. they had a slobbering love affair with him. that in no small way helped him get nomination over hillary clinton.
8:45 pm
i think this is -- >> pay back. >> right. they're going to show they love her and her liberal politics. >> it's going to be the woman that gender factor is going to be huge. >> accusation that's the party may be too mean and then, a factor give away that you might like. blp hi, i'm terry and i have diabetic nerve pain.
8:46 pm
8:47 pm
it's hard to describe, because you have a numbness, but yet you have the pain like thousands of needles sticking in your foot. it was progressively getting worse, and at that point i knew i had to do something. once i started taking the lyrica the pain started subsiding. [ male announcer ] it's known that diabetes damages nerves. lyrica is fda approved to treat diabetic nerve pain. lyrica is not for everyone. it may cause serious allergic reactions or suicidal thoughts or actions. tell your doctor right away if you have these, new or worsening depression, or unusual changes in mood or behavior. or swelling, trouble breathing, rash, hives, blisters, changes in eyesight including blurry vision, muscle pain with fever, tired feeling, or skin sores from diabetes. common side effects are dizziness, sleepiness,

8:49 pm
this is going to be the theme f you oppose extending benefits means the war on the poor, if you oppose a constrain on abortion you're war on women. if you oppose, you know, a fairly dismrined immigration bill, war on immigrants. war, war. and that is what it's going to be. am i wrong? >> i think that is right. i'd say two things. one is that they
8:50 pm
do that and are going to do more of it next year. the question is how badly will it hurt? and questions about you know if he's concerned about these things why hasn't he done something to solve them? you're right. that is where they're coming. we know they are. so there are three things we better be prepared to do. let's not make stupid mistakes and say things that add weight and power let's do a better job of explaining what we believe, third, do a better job focusing on a positive agenda that is inclusive for working class people. >> but this is no real central authority in republican party
8:51 pm
now. you know there is a chairman of the rnc. it's hard to get a unified next job. president obama now is saying hey, in obamacare i'm willing to compromise if you have a better solution we'll talk about it. that is is what he said but the republican party is all over the place on obamacare and immigration and a number of issues a lot of people think you get a healthy debate. democrats with can point and say all they do is say nochlt the party of no. i haven't seen an obamacare republican that everybody can understand >> you put your finger on a good point. republicans have to be for something. we've got four
8:52 pm
bills, four major pieces of legislation. there are a lot of common elements like allowing for sale of health insurance across state lines. making health insurance truly transportable. lots of things like that. it's important for everybody to be in it iechlt going to talk about what i'm for in order to gain support. >> you know as well as i do folks have no idea what republican party health care vision s they don't. you know because you do this for a livin i don't know spis civically where this legislation is, or who is spons yorg it. one
8:53 pm
void to get it out. >> right. >> well two, things one is that you're right. candidates have to do this. at the end of the day people goring to go into a booth and vote for candidate a or b. if candidate a is republican they better be willing to talk about what it is they're for. and we've got a terrible bill called affordable care act. and so be prepared. >> something everybody can understand bit way. dumb it down. >> mr. rove, thank you very much. factor tip of the day a big give away. kind of. moments ao.
